RETAIL SECURITY OFFICER
What Does the Course Cover?
To work within the retail security industry, an individual must have undergone a structured programme of training as specified by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
The course is aimed at anyone who wishes to work as a Security Officer within the retail security area, such as shopping centres, malls or retail parks. If you take this course, it will ensure you have the knowledge and skills needed to deal with everyday situations that arise from this type of work. You will know the methods of dealing with various situations within the parameters of the law.
The training is split over four days and covers the following topics:
- Access control
- Security and emergency systems
- Fire awareness
- Health and safety
- Civil & Criminal Law (Scotland, England and Wales)
- Equality and diversity
- Customer care and social skills
- Communications and reporting
- Would be Offenders
- Alarms & Surveillance
- The Retail Security Officer & the law

• Customer Care
• Reducing Conflict
• High-Risk Conflict
• Problem Solving
• Learning from Conflict
Successful candidates will be awarded a Level 2 Award in Retail Security certificate.
SIA licence courses are assessed by using:
- Multiple Choice Question Exams
- Practical Observation
The door supervisor training lasts five (5) days. Please note:
Our courses are intensive and conducted STRICTLY from 09.00 AM till 18:00 PM
In case you fail to complete the required hours, you will be at risk of not being allowed to take the exams and may even lose your license at a future date.
From January 1st, 2015 the SIA changed the regulations for the Door Supervisor course. These courses are now a five (5) day course.
