What Does the Course Cover?

By law, any door supervisors who are due for renewal of their licence will need to train in both of the below units – 1-day course.

Individuals can also choose to just up-skill themselves by attending only the Safety Awareness section of the course if they already have undertaken a physical intervention course previously. This is not mandatory, but it is considered good practice and will be better for your CV.

The course has the following two modules:

  • Level 2 Physical Intervention Training (Practical & Theory)
  • Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors (Theory)

The course covers all aspects of workplace violence, leading to use of force. However, our PI course covers a wide range of topics, to conform to best practice standards of the security industry, as recommended by our partners and supervisory bodies.

  • The requirement to use non-physical skills as far as possible
  • The law about “reasonable force” and “self-defence.”
  • The value of assessing a situation before intervening
  • Using Physical Intervention as a last resort
  • Possible medical implications
  • The possible legal implications of the techniques
  • Problem-solving
  • Disengagement techniques
  • Escorting and guiding skills
  • Holding skills
  • Counterterrorism issues
  • First aid situations
  • Legislation and requirements regarding children and young people

The door supervisor top-up course is designed to equip you with the best skills and practical knowledge of an extensive set of security contexts. This stands our students in good stead for securing employment within the security sector.

Assessment is through written evaluations and practical techniques.

The course lasts for 12 Hours spread over two days of training.

In case you fail to complete the required hours, you will be at risk of not being allowed to take the exams.
